Prefontaine Classic Men's 800m

Yuriy Borzakovskiy, Khadevis Robinson, Gary Reed, David Krummenacker and Alfred Kirwa Yego will race in the Prefontaine Classic 800m this coming June. All five are in the 1:43 club so it ought to be the race of the meet. Coming exactly 12 weeks before the World Championship 800m Final is held on September 2, 2007, nobody competing in Eugene is expected to be even close to peaking on June 10th. Will dark horse Nick Symmonds pull off the upset in front of his home crowd? If so, he most certainly would have to break his PR of 1:45.83.

I predict Borzakovskiy will take a somewhat tactical race in the high 1:44s. Another bold prediction for the master of the obvious: Maria Mutola will win her 15th consecutive 800m at the Pre Classic in the low 1:57s.
