Texas UIL State Meet Results

Notes from Austin:

Robert Griffin of Copperas Cove smoked both the 110m hurdles (in 13.55) and 300m hurdles (in 35.33) to win two 4A state titles, setting a new state record (and just .01 off the national high school record of 35.32) in the 300m hurdles and setting a new 4A state record in the 110 m hurdles. Lancaster beat out Copperas Cove 3:12.45 to 3:14.66 to win the 4A state title in the boys 4x400m relay. Griffin anchored the Copperas Cove relay team to that 2nd place finish.

Tiffany Townsend won the 4A state championship in both the 100m dash (11.21) and the 200m dash (22.84), setting new state records in both events. Her 200m time puts her in 7th place in the world rankings for 2007 and her 100m time puts her in 10th place.

The Lancaster Girls team won the 4A team state championship for the 7th consecutive year, which bests their own record of 6 wins from last year.

Erica Parker of Gregory-Portland just beat out Samantha Means of McKinney North, (5:01.37 to 5:01.85) to win the state title in the 4A 1600m run.
