Mottram Takes Rare Crack At Mile Run

Oslo, Norway's historic ExxonMobil Bislett Games, the first meet of the 2007 IAAF Golden League Series throughout Europe, begins in just under 15 hours from now. The featured event will be the famous Dream Mile. Craig Mottram will take on Kenyans Daniel Kipchirchir Komen and Alex Kipchirchir in a bid to try and restore the event to its old luster.

Both Mottram and Komen are fresh off of victories in the Prefontaine Classic - Mottram with an American all-comer's record of 8:03.50 in the 2 Mile and Komen with an American all-comer's record of 3:48.28 in the Mile. Kipchirchir finished 3rd in that race in a time of 3:52.10. He also ran the fastest Mile of 2006 in a time of 3:50.32.

Osafa Powell, the world's fastest human, will also run in Oslo. He hopes to dip under his 2007 best of 9.97 seconds.
